I strategically chiseled away at the wife, telling her it would be a good investment. She saw the profit margin, but knew I wouldn’t flip it quickly without playing around with it for a year. Then she said, go for it... “ if you can drive it to work for a while and save gas money over your Suburban it’s worth it, ” To which I hesitantly replied “umm... welllllll... that’s something it won’t do. It might get 10 mpg on a good day.” The conversation took a sharp turn at this point.

I have a wife and monies. If I had no wife, I’d have no monies and several unfinished beaters scattered about. Can’t complain- s he keeps me in line and ( mostly) tolerates my car addiction!

I am 100% unn ecessarily shopping for a GMT800 Suburban 4WD. I don’t need one, but after I bought my 2015, by brother in law bought a 2003 2500 Suburban and now I want one of those too. I haven’t even talked to my wife about it, because when I got my Suburban she basically just said “go buy what you want (just stop bothering me with inane details about cars)“. The part in parenthesis was implied. She would probably just say “go ahead, just don’t park it in the driveway.”

Again, I have a 2015 Suburban that I love for all the good and bigly-ness of it (as well as the modern touches of push button ignition, cooled seats, power liftgate, auto wipers, etc.). I do not need another, less efficient, huge vehicle. But I want one...

Then right after I buy one I will begin looking at something else, probably a small, manual transmission coupe of some sort, since I need something small to drive when I’m not driving either one of my massive vehicles. Like an E30...

What keeps me from doing this are my 4 kids, and the fact that I know I don’t have much time to work on any of them, especially during the school year.  Although I could work algebra into wrenching somehow, right?  And definitely history....

Yeah my wife knows full well that I’d fill up the yard with rusty junk if left to my own devices.

Step into my office, friend... I have a minty, well-maintained 2001 6.0 2500 Suburban sitting in my driveway that lived 95% of its life in sunny California ! I’m considering selling it, but my wife is currently veto-ing that idea. Not to mention, I really really love the thing (so does she). We’re probably changing to a single-income status in the not so distant future, so $450/month in gas between us is stupid. It really is a fantastic truck, though.

I’m 100% the same way. I’m like a kid with a new toy. I research a vehicle, shop all over for one, buy it, fix all the issues, add subtle custom touches (my Burb has an ‘05 Denali interior, late GMT800 tow mirrors, double DIN stereo conversion, and some other little stuff I’m forgetting), enjoy it for a little while, then I get bored and ADD kicks in and I obsess over something else.

Yep. It’s my wife that gets credit for me doing well in the real estate market. Without her I’d be broke, living in a rented single-wide surrounded by old beaters.

I like to think that I would have ended up in single room off the side of a decent sized garage, but who knows.

I would consider flying out to you and driving that home when you do decide to sell it.
